LAKE CITY, Fla. – Lake City police arrested the caregivers of a 73-year-old man on charges of neglect.
According to police, officers went to a home in the 500 block of Southwest Alamo Drive at the request of the victim's son who lives in Atlanta in order to investigate whether or not care was being provided to his father by the caregivers paid to do so. The senior was found to be in a state of neglect and the two caregivers were arrested.

Police said Dennis Evans, 38, and Janice Evans, 53, were paid caregivers by the family to provide home care and food to John Espinship, and had not been doing so. Both were arrested on felony charges of neglect of the elderly and exploitation of the elderly and booked at the Columbia County Detention Facility with bail set at $10,000.
The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending on the couple, police said.
