Man dies in Palm Valley crash when van sideswipes truck, hits concrete pole

Fatal crash in St. Johns County on Thursday (WJXT)

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – A Neptune Beach man died Thursday in a Ponte Vedra Beach crash on Solana Road (County Road 210A), according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said that a little after 2 p.m., a 55-year-old man was driving a van west on Solana Road, just west of La Pasada Circle, which is west of A1A. At the same time, a 60-year-old man driving a pickup truck was headed east on the same road.

The report said the van drifted into the oncoming lane and sideswiped the left side of the pickup truck.

The van then struck a concrete electrical pole on the left shoulder of the road.

The 55-year-old man died. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The 60-year-old man, who was wearing a seat belt, was not hurt, the report said.
