JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Ability Housing of Northeast Florida has filed a lawsuit against the city of Jacksonville after they were denied a zoning change that would have allowed them to renovate a building in Springfield for 12 units of housing for disabled and homeless veterans.
The group based the lawsuit on claims that the denial violated Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fair Housing Act.

The lawsuit states that the city "bent to the will of a vocal group of Springfield residents."
Ability Housing officials said the group lost its funding for the project, as well as $124,000 in out-of-pocket expenses.
