JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Police in Jacksonville are trying to identify a man they said shot another man in a car at a Westside gas station Saturday night.
Police were called to the BP gas station at 2990 Rayford St. just before 10:30 p.m.
They said the man approached a car full of friends and asked for a cigarette. The man then demanded money and the car, police said.
All of the victim's friends fled into the gas station, and the man tried to reach into the victim's pocket and take his wallet, police said.
A struggle ensued and the man pushed the victim into the driver's seat of the vehicle, removed a handgun from his waistband and shot the victim in the shoulder through the car window, police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooter, seen in surveillance photos, was wearing a white tank top. A man in a red shirt fled the scene with him, police said.
Anyone who has any information on the shooter's identity is asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
