HAMPTON, Fla. – Authorities say the mayor of Hampton was arrested Monday after he was accused of allegedly selling prescription medication.
The Bradford County Sheriff's Office drug unit said it secured an arrest warrant Monday for Barry Moore, the mayor of the city of Hampton.

After determining Moore was at a home in Polk County, deputies said a coordinated effort between both agencies resulted in his arrest at 4:50 p.m.
During an unrelated investigation, the Sheriff's Office said a deputy received information alleging the mayor was selling prescription medication. That information was presented to the Bradford County sheriff's drug unit, which in turn began an extended investigation.
Deputies said the investigation revealed Moore obtained and then sold some oxycodone. Deputies said an arrest warrant was signed by a judge with a bond of $45,000.
"This isn't Toronto," said Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith. "We will not tolerate illegal drug activity, in my jurisdiction, by anyone to include our elected officials."
Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Office served the warrant and took Moore to the Polk County jail without incident. He was charged with possession of a schedule I or II drug and selling a schedule I or II drug.
