JFRD Station 4 wins in competition

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With the recent stormy weather, a cook-out probably wasn't on your agenda.

However, it was definitely part of the plan for Jacksonville firefighters.

Local firefighters from station 1 and 4 lined up for some friendly competition. They faced off at the grill to see who could cook the best steaks.

Walmart and other sponsors donated $10,000 to a charity for the firefighters to give out as they'd like.

Despite the rain, many came out to support and also try some steak samples.

"Man it's great to come out here and it's great to be out here for charity," said Rod Ziriak, JFRD Station 4. "You know it's raining but hey, you can see the big crowd come out and support charities."

"As you can tell, we love to cook but we love to eat, you know, just like one big family," said Jimmy Snipes, JFRD Station 1.

JFRD Station 4 won in Saturday's competition.
