Funeral held for mother, child killed in mass shooting

Service held at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Family and friends packed a Southside church Saturday to pay their respects at the funeral for two of the three people shot and killed in the mass shooting almost two weeks ago in Northwest Jacksonville.

Kadejah Williams, 22, and her 11-month-old baby Tedashii Williams were shot and killed Nov. 12 in a parking lot across the street from the Cleveland Arms Apartments.

The funeral service was held at the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church on San Diego Road at 11 a.m.
Williams’ god-mother Vanette Jordan said she is struggling to find closure because no arrest has been made directly related to the murder.

“It is very difficult, because it happened for no reason,” Jordan said. “Nobody knows why. Nobody but God.”
Williams’ cousin Suete Williams said it’s been hard for the hundreds who gathered inside the church to say goodbye.

“The family’s pretty big, and the support of the community has been great as well,” Williams said.

“I know there was gonna be a lot (of people) because she was loved. She was really loved,” Jordan said.

Police have identified Xacia Burnem’s boyfriend, David Anderson, as a person of interest in the case. He’s locked up on separate charges and is being held on a $1 million bond. Burnem was the third person killed in the mass shooting.
