Police: Argument over relationship led to killing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police have arrested a man in connection with the stabbing death of an 18-year-old Tuesday afternoon.

Jacksonville police said 40-year-old Carlos Dupree stabbed Garcia Bannister outside Dupree's home in the 3400 block of Broadway Avenue. Both lived in the home.

Bannister was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, where he died.

Police said Bannister punched Dupree first while the two were arguing over a relationship Bannister was having with Dupree's stepdaughter.

During the fight, police said, Dupree went into his home and got a butcher knife. Police said he then stabbed the teen in the abdomen.

Police said Dupree admitted to the stabbing when questioned.
