Police: Man surrenders in killing during card game

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 20-year-old Jacksonville man who police said shot and killed another man during an argument last month at a Northside home turned himself in Tuesday.

Police said Montre Richardson, who lives in the home in the 11500 block of Quailhollow Drive, shot 32-year-old William Hicks on March 31 during a disagreement that took place in front of numerous witnesses.

Police said the dispute was during a card game. They said Richardson got into an argument with his girlfriend, and Hicks stood up for her.

Investigators said Richardson then pulled out a gun and shot Hicks twice. Police said Richardson admitted to killing Hicks.

Richardson was charged with murder and booked into the Duval County jail.
