Police: Man tried to lure girl twice

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The St. Augustine Police Department has issued a warning concerning two different attempts to lure the same girl into a car while she was walking in the 300 block of Anastasia Boulevard.

The witness describes the driver as an older white man, possibly 70 to 80 years old, heavy set and gray headed. He was not wearing any glasses, nor did he have any facial hair.

The man was driving an older model black Audi with an unknown license plate number.

Both incidents happened mid-afternoon, once last week and once over the weekend, police said. They said the man only made hand gestures to the child.

"I just think it's horrible and I think parents really need to get out and know where their children are," said concerned parent Dee Paczkowski. "It's time to watch them and make sure they are protected wherever they are."

Paczkowski lives near the 300 block of Anastasia Boulevard. Paczkowski and her neighbors don't know what to think.

"I'm horrified to hear that this guy has been tracking this young lady down," said Jeff Mann.

A witness told police the man looked to be between 70 and 80 years old. Neighbors weren't surprised at the man's age.

"There's no age limit on pedophiles. They're all ages," said Paczkowski. "Everybody needs to give information if they have it. Volunteer the information, help the little people out. I hope they find him and do something about it."

Anyone with any information about these incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS (8477). Callers may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
