MAD DADS seeks community's help in killing

Police looking for whoever killed 24-year-old Gate clerk

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – MAD DADS President Donald Foy puts it succinctly.

"If they'll murder once, they'll murder again," he said.

Foy and the organization, aimed at putting a stop to crime in Jacksonville, are reacting to the killing of a Gate gas station employee on the Northside early Sunday morning and the search for the shooter. They're calling for the community's help.

Thomas McIntee, 24, was shot and killed in a robbery attempt.

Hours earlier, a family was carjacked at a drive-through restaurant on Moncrief Road. Police said that car was used in the killing.

"For someone to come in and murder him like that, I call it just so senseless," Foy said.

That's why he said he and the community have to do something.

"We realize that we live in a sinful, fallen world, but we as a community have got to take a step up to be able to remove these individuals from our community for it to be a safe community," Foy said.

He said he believes the community is capable of doing that.

"If they break the code of silence and tell what they know, it is," Foy said. "There is a number for them to call and remain anonymous. There's $23,000 involved here to step forward and remain anonymous."

Foy said even for someone who is a family member of the killer, it's important to do the right thing. And if the person responsible is paying attention, Foy said that killer should surrender to police.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $23,000 reward after Gate donated an additional $20,000 to the organization for anyone with information that leads to an arrest. The number to call for Crime Stoppers is 866-845-TIPS.
