Man arrested in Gainesville home invasion

Police: 1 masked man shot, killed by resident; second man caught days later

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alachua County Sheriff's Office detectives have arrested a man in connection with a home invasion robbery in Gainesville on Wednesday, deputies said.

Shaquille C. Lyons, 19 of Gainesville, is charged with robbery/home invasion with a firearm and conspiracy.

One man was shot and killed by a resident during the robbery at the Grove Villas apartment complex at 6400 Southwest 20th Ave., deputies said.

Both men who attempted to rob the occupied apartment were wearing masks, according to police.

One of the masked men, identified as 23-year-old Taylor William Killingsworth, was shot by the resident of the apartment, according to the Sheriff's Office. Killingsworth was found dead at the scene.

Lyons then fled the scene and was caught and arrested Friday, deputies said.
