JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man hit by a vehicle in the Regency area earlier this month died Thursday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Around 10 p.m. June 4, a vehicle was traveling east on Atlantic Boulevard near Lee Road when it hit 53-year-old Raul Mercado.

Police said Mercado was trying to cross Atlantic from south to north and was not in a crosswalk or at an intersection. Police said Mercado walked into the path of an eastbound vehicle.
He was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries and died Thursday.
The driver was not injured.
Police said alcohol or drugs were not factors in the crash.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
