Man injured in St. Johns County hit-and-run crash

FHP: 2 cars involved; 1 person leaves crash scene

WORLD GOLF VILLAGE, Fla. – One man was seriously injured Saturday evening when his car and another collide in St. Johns County, and authorities are looking for the second vehicle, which left the scene of the crash. 

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Jean Sancheza, 32, of Palm Coast, was driving west on International Golf Parkway at 6:38 p.m. when another male driver was driving east in a Lexus.  FHP says the drivers were approaching Commerce Lake Drive when their cars collided.

FHP says two people saw the crash and went to help the drivers. The witnesses say they went to help the driver of the Lexus first, but he appeared uninjured  They say at some point they saw the driver of the Lexus take off. 

According to St. Johns Fire and Rescue, Sancheza was taken to UF Health with serious injuries. 

Witnesses say they don't know who caused the crash. Leaving the scene of an accident with injuries is a  felony.
