JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville man was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for passing counterfeit money at several businesses.
Timothy Deante Burroughs, 32, was also ordered to pay restitution to the various businesses he defrauded.

According to court documents, Burroughs entered various businesses in Jacksonville in November and December 2014 and passed counterfeit $100 Federal Reserve Notes.
On December 1, 2014, he entered a Publix and passed counterfeit Federal Reserve Note.
Upon being confronted by Publix employees, Burroughs ran out of the store.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office soon located Burroughs at a nearby Motel 6 hotel room and detained him. A search of the room resulted in the recovery of additional counterfeit $100.
This case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the United States Secret Service, Jacksonville Field Office.
