Man turns himself in over sexual assault case

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man who police said may have sexually assaulted a young girl turned himself in to police on May 4, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Department.

According to reports, 40-year-old Myron Brown walked into the the Jacksonville Police Memorial Building and told officials that he wished to turn himself in for sexually assaulting a young girl.

After turning himself in, Brown told police that he had an inappropriate relationship with a young girl that started 15 years ago. He said he allegedly touched the girl inappropriately and attempted to perform oral sex on her.  Brown was a charter bus driver. (Editor's note: It was originally reported he worked for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, but News4Jax has since learned that was not true.)

Police said that after hearing Brown's statement they contacted the girl who confirmed what Brown had said. 

Official records said that the girl was in middle school at the time and told Brown that she was going to contact the police, which caused Brown to turn himself in.
