More upgrades coming for EverBank Field?

Requested state funds for improvements could go to re-designing club level

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The $1 million a year Jacksonville has requested for stadium improvements from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity could be used to make major upgrades to the club-level space at EverBank Field.

The department is administering a new construction-funding program offering sales-tax dollars spread over 30 years based on the costs of stadium projects.

In its application to the department, the city said the planned improvements to the stadium, which are subject to City Council approval, might include "improving EverBank Field's premium ticket experience so that the club level space, currently insulated from views of the field, will open into the stadium with a view of the field."

The City Council approved a resolution in support of the application, which continues the overall upgrade of EverBank Field that started with renovating the locker rooms and adding luxury cabanas and, swimming pools and giant videoboards.
