Motorcyclist hits pedestrian on Northside

53-year-old sustains life-threatening injuries; motorcyclist in serious condition

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two men are in the hospital after police say a motorcycle hit a pedestrian Tuesday night, sending both of them to a hospital.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a man was crossing Main Street near the intersection of 23rd Street when he was hit by a motorcyclist traveling northbound on Main Street.

The pedestrian, who appeared to be a homeless man, is a 53-year-old man and was transported to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries, police said. The motorcyclist, a 27-year-old man, was also taken to UF Health and was said to be in serious condition.

Main Street was closed in both directions Tuesday night while a JSO traffic homicide team investigated that crash.
