Pedestrian killed in 5-vehicle crash on I-75

HAMILTON COUNTY, Fla. – A pedestrian was struck and killed in a multi-vehicle crash Saturday night in Hamilton County. It happened around 7:05 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75. 

Charles Burton, 46, of  Wisconsin, parked his car on the side of the highway, then crossed the roadway for unknown reasons.

He was struck by a Ford Focus traveling south, then thrown into the path of two other cars, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. Two other vehicles swerved off the road. 

Four of the drivers were not injured. One of the drivers suffered serious injuries and was taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville..
