Man killed in single-vehicle crash on Westside

Police believe victim may have had medical issue

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly accident Sunday morning on the Westside.

A witness found a driver unresponsive in a pickup truck on Lenox Avenue near Plymouth Street about 9 a.m. and called 911. The driver was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, but doctors couldn't revive him.

Police are still trying to determine exactly when the accident happened. When officers arrived they saw a truck crashed around a tree and no signs of braking. They believe it was a single vehicle-accident and the victim may have had a medical issue like a heart attack because there was no sign the victim tried to brake.

There were no witnesses to the crash and no identification on the person involved. 

Lenox Avenue remained closed for more than two hours while JSO traffic homicide detectives continued to investigate.
