"I could see the guy laying out and I went up to him first and when I got closer I said he was gone," witness Mark Wells, of Clermont said. "I looked around and saw fuel dripping, but there was no fire or flame or anything.".

Police said that the two people who were killed appeared to have died on impact. Clermont police identified the pilot of the plane as Dane Sheahen and James Kos was a passenger inside the plane.

Wells didn't know about the second person on board.

"I didn't realize, I found out later that there were two people in there," Wells said.

The cause of the crash is not known at this time.

The Federal Aviation Authority and the National Transportation Safety Board were notified and will be taking over the investigation.
