3 shot, 1 dies in Westside McDonald's parking lot

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One man died and two others were hospitalized after a shooting Wednesday night in the parking lot of the McDonald's on Cassat Avenue at Highway Avenue, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

According to homicide investigators, three black men were in a BMW convertible in the parking lot when they were shot about 10:24 p.m.

Responding officers found the driver slumped over the steering wheel of the car, dead from a gunshot wound. The two other victims had gone inside the store to get help.

The two men who survived the shooting were taken to UF Health Jacksonville, one in critical condition and the other in stable condition.

"There was a disturbance of some sort inside the parking lot of this McDonald's here and several gunshots rang out." JSO Sgt. T.K. Waters said. "We are trying to sort everything out talking to a lot of witnesses and trying to find out as much as we can at this point."

Police do not have any suspect information. They spent most of the night gathering evidence at the scene.

"We are trying to determine who is responsible. There were a lot of witnesses, there were a lot of people in the McDonald's, a lot of people across the street, so we are going to talk to them when we can," said Waters.
