TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A Senate Republican filed a bill Thursday that calls for offering high-school elective courses that focus on life skills, ranging from developing job-interview skills to managing stress.
Sen. Jack Latvala, R-Clearwater, filed the bill (SB 1462) for consideration during the annual legislative session that starts Tuesday.

It would direct the education commissioner to develop an elective "that addresses skills and character development not included in rigorous academic courses."
Among the issues that would be addressed in the elective would be leadership skills, organization skills, research skills and creating resumes, according to the bill.
