St. Augustine police arrest robbery suspect, accomplice

Eric Tirado, Richard Palmer arrested in Sunoco robbery

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – St. Augustine police arrested a man who they said stole cash straight out of the victim's pants pocket.

Police said the suspect, 35-year-old Eric Tirado, and the owner of the Sunoco South store at 2199 North Ponce de Leon Blvd. got into an argument outside the store. Tirado reached into the owner's pocket, taking an unknown amount of cash, police said.

A witness went over to the owner to help him as Tirado dove through a car window in an attempt to escape, police said. The driver of the car, Richard Palmer, started striking the Sunoco owner, police said.

Officers eventually tracked down both Tirado and Palmer.

Palmer was charged with battery. Another passenger in the car, Lauren Parker, was released without charges.

Tirado was charged with robbery.
