St. Johns County man charged with using computer to solicit

HASTINGS, Fla. – A 56-year old St. Johns County man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on a warrant from Leon County on a charge of using a computer to solicit a parent or guardian of a minor. James Eugene Nichols of Hastings was booked into the County Jail on no bond to await extradition to Tallahassee.

A month ago, detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Special Victims’ Unit/Cyber Crimes Section were contacted by a detective with the Tallahassee Police Department in reference to an online solicitation of a minor child in which the suspect appeared to be living in St. Johns County.

St. Johns County detectives became involved in the investigation, assisting the TPD in building a case against Nichols.

An arrest warrant was obtained by the Tallahassee PD, and Nichols was served that warrant at his hom Tuesday afternoon.
