Man shot near Edward Waters College

Victim may be in 20s, sustained life-threatening injuries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – A man in his 20s is fighting for his life after police said he was shot on Kings Road early Monday morning.

Around 1 a.m. officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office were dispatched to UF Health in reference to a person with a gunshot wound.

"It is a life-threatening gunshot wound... unknown how he received the gunshot wound. He was dropped off at UF Health by unknown individuals," said Sgt. Craig Waldrup.

The initial investigation led officers to Kings Road near Tyler Street in reference to the shooting.

"We believe there was a call that went out there about a gunshot, but that was unverified," said Waldrup.

Waldrup said they have not located any bullet casings and are unsure exactly where the shooting happened.

The name of the victim has not been released, but police have not released how many times he was shot or where he was shot, but said he has life-threatening injuries.

Police do not yet have any suspect information.
