Man punches teen over McDonald's order, deputies say

Marion County Sheriff's Office: Man upset he didn't get fries

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A man was arrested for assaulting a teenager because he was upset with the McDonald's meal she brought to him, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Barry Speakman, 32, kicked a 16-year-old girl in the neck, sending her to the hospital, when she brought him back the wrong order Monday evening.

Speakman asked the girl to get him a double quarter pounder with cheese, pickles, mayo and fries from McDonald's for dinner. She returned to the home in Summerfield with the food, which included her own chicken McNuggets,

Witnesses told police that instead of a double quarter pounder the order included only a quarter pounder. On top of that insult, there were no fries. Speakman came up from behind the girl and said "I thought you said you got my order right."

That's when he kicked her in the neck/right shoulder area.

She was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Speckman was arrested and charged with simple battery and taken to the Marion County Jail, where deputies said they will notify the jail's kitchen staff of Speakman's exacting dining expectations.

"We can assure you that he will be getting whatever the kitchen is serving everyone else," the Marion County Sheriff's Office said on its Facebook page.
