A pregnant mother in Colorado was brutally attacked Thursday while answering a Craigslist ad to buy some baby clothes for her unborn child.
Unfortunately cases like this are on the rise, and the Bradford County Sheriff's Office is one of a number of agencies across the country taking steps to try to prevent crimes like this from happening again.
It is offering a Safe Place program that encourages anyone who arranges a purchase or a sale through Craigslist or any similar website to come to the Sheriff's Office to complete the transaction.
The Sheriff's Office said you say you can use either the lobby or the Sheriff's Office parking lot where security cameras will keep a watchful eye.

"We know that there's, you know, tremendous benefits to people being able to trade things and sell things on the Internet. But there's also a few incidents that occur where bad things have happened because bad people are out there committing crimes, using this type of opportunity to meet people and take advantage of them. So this was a way to try and help ensure the safety and security for both parties," Captain Brad Smith said.
Residents can use these services 24 hours day, 7 days a week, but the Sheriff's Office said for special circumstances you can use the lobby after hours by speaking to a dispatcher first.
