Car found in foot of water

The crash happened near the intersection of County Road 13 and County Road 214, officials said.

Around 3 a.m., Roy Leitheisor said he called 911.

“I looked out the window (and) I could see that the car was coming too fast,” Leitheisor explained. “I said, ‘They’re not going to stop.’ I hadn’t even thought it, and, then, all of a sudden, I saw the tires. I mean, I heard the tires squealing. And then, I saw the taillights. You can see the lights move and then go into the woods.”

Deputies said the car went down an embankment and stopped in about a foot of water. Deputies helped the mother and children out of the car and to safety.

“By the grace of God, they got out of the car and nobody even had so much as a nose bleed,” Leitheisor said.

Authorities have not said why the car ran off the road.
