Working out rules for medical marijuana businesses

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville City Council repealed its brand new moratorium on businesses that seek to grow medical marijuana, while the Council continues to work out rules for these businesses.

Two weeks ago, the Council approved a 180-day moratorium, angering backers of the newly legalized form of marijuana Charlotte's Web.

On Tuesday night, the Council introduced a new bill to consider zoning rules for businesses that process and dispense low THC marijuana, which the Legislature made legal last year.

The Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the new bill July 28. If they pass it in August, the measure could include a temporary moratorium, but that's uncertain right now.
