Woman sang with Keith Urban, 'lived her dream'

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two days after Jacksonville resident Melissa Smith took the the stage of the Country Superfest to sing a duet with Keith Urban, she visited The Morning Show to talk about experience and sing some more.

Smith, who performs at local nightspots to feed her passion, won the right to sing the Melissa Lambert part of "We were us," through an online contest on News4Jax.com. Of nearly 50 entries, Smith was one of four finalists submitted to Urban's management team, Borman Entertainment, and was chosen to sing Saturday night at EverBank Field.

"It was just a moment where I said I was going to enjoy this and love every minute and I'm going to walk out there and jam with Keith," Smith said. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and I was so ready," Smith said.

Smith said the experience didn't sink in until the next day.

"I was at a birthday party with my children and ... it hit me: I just stood before thousands of thousands of people. I looked at Keith Urban in his eyes and sang with him," Smith said. "The tears just flooding at this birthday party with my children."

Smith added that Urban is as good looking up close as he is in his music videos.

"He is a very very attractive man. Has these beautiful eyes and an amazing smile and you could just feel how warm he is," Smith said. "And all of the passion he puts into his music, it was very easy to sing with him. He made me extremely comfortable on stage. You could tell that he's a wonderful person."
