JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After coming out of OTA's, training camp, and the preseason in relatively good health, the Jaguars were delt a slight blow as defensive lineman Jared Odrick was placed into the NFL's concussion protocol on Thursday.
According to the team, he was immediately removed from practice after being hit in the jaw on Wednesday. He was then evaluated by the team medical staff and was placed into the concussion program.
Odrick did not practice on Thursday, but was cleared to workout and watch practice. Speaking to the media afterwards, Odrick says that he feels fine and respects the decision to keep him out.
"I am still going through some things that are a part of the protocol," said Odrick. "I respect it, but at the same time it is tough to sit there and go through it when you know that you are O.K. but I still respect it. I am still going through a few things but still plan to play on Sunday."
If Odrick can't play Sunday at home against the Packers, Tyson Alualu expects to get most of the snaps that Odrick would have played.
Kickoff between the Packers and the Jaguars is Sunday at 1PM at EverBank Field.
