Ryan Davis among initial Jaguars cuts

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With Saturday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline for teams to reduce their rosters to 53 players, the Jacksonville Jaguars began that process on Friday afternoon.

After originally making the team as an undrafted free agent in 2012, Ryan Davis was cut. This off-season Davis was asked to make the transition from a defensive lineman to a hybrid linebacker and pass rusher, which the Jaguars refer to as the Otto position. Davis was also a significant contributor on special teams.

Fellow linebackers Jordan Tripp and Thurston Armbrister were also among Friday’s cuts.

So far the Jaguars have also released defensive end Tyrone Holmes, who was selected in the sixth round of this year’s NFL draft.

The team also parted ways with defensive tackle T.J. Barnes and offensive tackle Rashod Hill.
