Sharks miss playoffs with loss to VooDoo

Jacksonville falls 36-35 on missed FG

The Sharks fail to make the playoffs for the first time in franchise history with a 36-35 loss to the Voodoo.

JACKSONVILLE – For the first time in franchise history, the Jacksonville Sharks will watch the playoffs from home. Jacksonville failed to make the postseason thanks to a 36-35 loss to the New Orleans VooDoo on Monday night.

The Sharks trailed 36-35 with less than a minute to go in the fourth quarter after a Josh Jasper field goal. R.J. Archer drove his team down the field with passes to Jeron Harvey and Jeff Hughley. But Fabrizio Scaccia missed a 20-yard field goal wide right and the VooDoo covered up the loose ball as time expired. Scaccia finished the season 0 for 7 on field goal attempts.

Sharks owner Jeff Bouchy made headlines last week when he guaranteed a win over the VooDoo. Bouchy said if the Sharks did not win against the VooDoo on July 14, all fans who attended the VooDoo game would receive one free ticket to the Sharks' July 26 game against Los Angeles.

With the loss, Jacksonville is now 6 and 10 on the year. The Sharks are back in action on July 19 on the road against the Cleveland Gladiators.
