Florida Highway Patrol said a semi-truck crash resulted in the deaths of a 21-year-old woman and 23-year-old man.

The crash happened Tuesday at 5:40 p.m. on the I-95 southbound off-ramp at Lem Turner Road.

According to the crash report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the semi-truck lost control while negotiating a curve on I-95 southbound near Lem Turner Road. The truck swerved into a concrete barrier, bounced off, and hit a KIA Optima that was in the right lane.

The impact sent both vehicles to hit a metal guardrail on the right shoulder of the interstate.

Investigators said the driver and passenger suffered fatal injuries as a result. The driver of the semi truck, a 65-year-old man, was not hurt.

According to JFRD, the crash caused a fuel spill and hazmat crews were called.
