City Council OKs $550,000 to repair Huguenot Park

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – City Council approved funding Tuesday night to begin repairing damage at Huguenot Memorial Park caused by Hurricane Matthew.

Council approved $550,000 for road repairs after the main road at the entrance of the park was washed out by the storm. Repairs are expected to over $1 million.

The park has been closed since the hurricane passed just off the coast Oct. 7 and will remain closed through early next year while work continues. City officials said in addition to road destroyed, there was damage to small structures and cabanas around the park.

City officials said season passes will be honored and extended when the park reopens.
