JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Global ice is on the increase and is threatening to put the global warming argument on thin ice.

It's not just the Arctic ice that's on the increase. The Antarctic ice cap is about as large as ever observed during the satellite era.
The ice recovery at the North Pole doesn't come as a surprise to some scientists, like meteorologist Joe Bastardi, who agree that other significant factors such as changes in insolation (incoming solar radiation) and ocean phases between warm and cold are the catalyst to the growth.
As seen in the image provided from Dr. Gray's paper, it is clear to see the ocean cycles flopping from cold to warm and warm to cold.
Whatever your stance is on the global warming argument, it is clear the mechanisms that drive climate are not well understood. However it is good to see that the ice isn't gone. After having just experienced the coldest Arctic summer on record in 2013, perhaps we'll soon see even more recovery of an ice sheet in peril.
