Friday's temps shatter record lows

Another freeze warning on Saturday morning

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Teeth were chattering as records were shattered Friday morning.

Friday morning's low temperature at Jacksonville International Airport, where records are kept, was 24 degrees -- four degrees lower than the record for the day set in 1958.

The low temperature also matched our previous coldest winter morning, that occurred on Nov. 20, exactly three months ago.  The coldest temperature was at Cecil Commerce Center (Cecil Field) with a low of 19°.  The mildest location was recorded at NAS Jacksonville with a low of 32°.  However, the base had winds to 15 mph throughout the overnight, giving them windchill temperatures around 20°.

What next?

Tonight another light freeze is likely, this time mainly inland locations.  Beaches will not have see a freeze, but there could be some patchy frost.

I suggest that you keep your covers on top of your plants (that you protected Thursday night).  Inland folks, morning lows will be just below 32°, not nearly as cold as Friday morning.

Warm weather lovers, your day, and it will be just one day, is Sunday, as temperatures everywhere reach up towards 75°.
