Woman, 54, suffers serious injuries in pedestrian-vehicle crash

Family members say April Robinson hospitalized

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman suffered serious injuries Monday morning when she was struck by a car in Jacksonville's Pine Forest neighborhood near the Lakewood area, authorities said.

The collision happened shortly before 7 a.m. when the middle-aged woman was hit by a sedan heading south on St. Augustine Road near Brewster Road, according to police.

Police said the woman, who was identified by family members as 54-year-old April Robinson (pictured), was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Family members said Robinson was fighting for her life in the intensive care unit Monday evening. Her brother and daughter told News4Jax that she suffered a serious brain injury and they are holding out hope that she can pull through.

Family and friends said Robinson, a longtime Pine Forest resident, walked to a bus stop every morning to go to work, but she was on her way to a doctor's appointment Monday when she was struck while trying to cross the street to get to the bus stop.

Police said the driver, who stayed at the scene, was cooperative with the crash investigation.
