What's new inside Jacksonville's favorite cars

No description found

According to research from a bunch of different sources, the most popular vehicles in the greater Jacksonville area  are the Toyota Camry and the Jeep Wrangler. It's interesting that both Toyota and Jeep decided not to mess with a good thing this year. Neither have plans for a redesign, but, both manufacturers have added features to the 2015 models that they think drivers will really like.

The new Toyota Camry looks almost the same from the outside, but open the door, and you will find some big changes. Quaid McIver with Toyota showed off this years model at the Detroit Auto Show last month. "Of course Toyota is trying to innovate technology into our new vehicles," McIver said. "Our Camry's are the most popular sedans and this year we are offering a whole new list of safety technology that consumers have been asking for."

This includes lane departure warning, a blind spot monitoring system and radar cruise control. McIver said, "Adaptive radar cruise control actually allows the car to keep a distance between you and the vehicles in front of you and will automatically apply the breaking system if your vehicle is traveling at a certain speed, they will keep the distance between you and the vehicle in front."

Toyota has offered these features in other, larger vehicles in the past but, this is a first for their mid size sedans. A first across the board for Toyota, the new wireless way to charge your phone. As long as your device is compatible, now all you need to do in the Camry is place the phone in the console and it will charge without a cord.

When it comes to the Jeep Wrangler, the people at Jeep asked their customers what they wanted to see new and improved.

"The radio is a good example," Jim Morrison, Director Of Jeep, told us. "They wanted a little more sound out of the Wrangler, especially when you have the doors off and the top off. You need to do a good job of surrounding the customer with the sound so they asked us to do that. And we even upgraded the bass with the 2015 with the new Wrangler sound system."

Some upgraded editions will even have surround sound and an Alpine stereo system. The other thing Jeep lovers wanted was less of a struggle going topless. "We've got a new soft top that's a bit easier to put up, and it's very soft and a premium look to it as well," Morrison said.

Those are the only big changes in any of the Wrangler models this year. They are launching some pretty cool special editions, like this Hard Rock version. But, for the most part, drivers are telling them they like the Jeep the way it is. "There's nothing else as exciting and fun as a Wrangler with the top off and the doors off. The vehicle will take you anywhere that you want to, or it will just take you down the road and let you have fun."

Wrangler had it's best sales year ever last year by the way. They're boasting about the 175,000 new customers, which was a big part of Jeep hitting a million sales.
