News Anchor/Investigative Reporter

WJXT/WCWJ is seeking a dynamic, authoritative and experienced Anchor / Investigative Reporter who can lead the desk with credibility and drive impactful investigative journalism that holds the powerful accountable. This is a high-profile, dual-role position for a journalist who thrives both on-air and in long-form, enterprise reporting.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable commanding breaking news coverage as they are digging through records, cultivating sources, and producing original investigations that make a difference in our community.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Anchor/Investigative Reporter will be a central figure in our newsroom, engaging our communities with accurate and compelling investigative storytelling. This role demands a professional with a dynamic on-air presence, strong news judgment, and versatility to cover impactful news both on the anchor desk and in the field. We’re looking for a leader who can liaise with producers, mentor reporters, and immerse themselves in the community to enhance our connection with our consumers across multiple platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Anchor Responsibilities

• Anchor assigned newscasts with confidence, clarity, and strong editorial judgment

• Lead breaking news coverage with composure and authority

• Collaborate with producers to shape rundowns and elevate storytelling

• Conduct live interviews with newsmakers and community leaders

• Represent the station at community and promotional events

• Contribute to digital and streaming platforms with urgency and authenticity

Investigative Reporter Responsibilities

• Develop, research, and produce in-depth investigative stories across platforms

• Cultivate confidential sources and build long-term community relationships

• Analyze public records, court filings, data sets, and financial documents

• Pitch original investigative ideas that are impactful and relevant

• Collaborate with photographers, editors, producers, and legal counsel

• Deliver investigative content on-air, online, and through streaming and social platforms

• Follow stories beyond the initial report to ensure accountability and impact

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in anchoring and/or investigative reporting

• Proven track record of impactful investigative journalism

• Strong live reporting and breaking news skills

• Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editorial judgment

• Experience with public records requests and data analysis preferred

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom

• Strong ethical standards and commitment to journalistic integrity

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous successful anchoring and reporting experience in a news environment.
