Poverty discussed at WGA Member Forum

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Poverty was the topic of discussion at the annual Women's Giving Alliance Member Forum on Wednesday.

The luncheon was held at the University of North Florida Herbert Center, where panelists discussed the impact of poverty both on a global and local level.

The Woman's Giving Alliance president, Ellen Wiss, and four other panelists spoke to more than 250 people who attended the annual forum.

Mike Beard, director of the United Nations Better World Campaign, was the keynote speaker at the luncheon. 

Beard came from Washington, DC, to provide a global framework with local leaders representing corporate, public and philanthropic areas.

Jacksonville panelists included Dawn Lockhart, the director of strategic partnership with the City of Jacksonville; Dr. Sherry Magill, the president of the Jessie Bal duPont Fund; and Darnell Smith, the president of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and market president of Florida Blue.
