JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Families worldwide have started traditions of watching new movies on Christmas Day at the theater.
Not much else is open, after all, and as one News4JAX viewer pointed out -- it’s a good place to let your Christmas dinner settle.
“Whenever we do actually get everybody together, we always like to have dinner and then go out and digest it during the movie,” said Brandon Ezell, who we chatted with outside the Tinseltown movie theater on Thursday.
Ezell said the tradition is new for his wife, so he brought her out for a Christmas Day date at the movies to see a film she’s been looking forward to
“It’s a lot of fun,” Ezell said. “I think it’s a good tradition we’ll probably keep going.”
We spotted dozens of people outside the theater.
If you want to start or keep that tradition, here’s a look at some movies playing in theaters this Christmas.
- Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third film in the Avatar series by James Cameron
- Anaconda, a comedy inspired by the classic film, Anaconda, starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd
- Marty Supreme, a film loosely inspired by American table tennis player Marty Reisman, starring Timothee Chalamet
- For the kids, there is The Spongebob Movie: Search for Squarepants, and Zootopia 2.
