JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Christmas is often thought of as a magical holiday, and there is nothing more magical than the birth of a child on Christmas Day.
Baptist Health officials reported that nearly 10 babies were born on Christmas Day at several Baptist Health locations across Northeast Florida.

Baby Ella Tanzler has an interesting backstory. She’s the great-granddaughter of Hans Tanzler, the first mayor of the consolidated city of Jacksonville, and the granddaughter of George Gibbs, who founded Atlantic Marine in Jacksonville.
Her dad, Hans Tanzler IV, spoke with News4JAX while her mom caught up on some much-needed rest. The dad told News4JAX that a Christmas Day birth was quite the surprise.
“It’s funny. We certainly didn’t time it as such. We had it scheduled for the 22nd, but unfortunately, the hospital was too busy to accept a voluntary induction, so we had to wait,“ Tanzler IV said. ”And then God’s plan materialized late Christmas Eve. We started looking at our clocks, wondering what time we thought it would be. A little bit worried it would be Christmas Day. This little nugget came at 1 a.m. Christmas morning.
“She’s a Christmas miracle,” he said.
Another baby named Marina, who was born on Christmas Day at Baptist Health, also has a fun back story.
Her older sister was born on St. Patrick’s Day.
So holiday births are a family tradition!
News4JAX congratulates all the new parents.
