Email demanding court appearance is scam, officials say No description found
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – If you've received an email stating that you are supposed to appear in court, delete it.
Officials warn it's likely an attempt to download a harmful virus onto your computer.
A News4Jax viewer recently received an email, stating that he was under investigation for conspiracy to commit health care fraud and needed to be in court in just a few days.
The email had a couple of grammar errors, which seemed suspicious, so instead of clicking on the attached document, he called the State Attorney's Office.
They said the email was a scam.
If you think you've been targeted by a similar scam, contact the Better Business Bureau to report it at https://www.bbb.org/scamtracker/us/reportscam .
