Video circulated among Northwestern Middle students of 2 boys in sex act

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville police are investigating a case of "sexting" at a Duval County middle school after a video circulated last week among students at Northwestern Middle showing two boys engaged in a sex act.

A spokeswoman with Duval County Public Schools released a statement about the incident Monday.

The statement said that after learning about alleged sexual activity between two students that might have been recorded, school officials immediately informed Duval County School Police and the Department of Children and Families and contacted the families of the students involved.

“Once it was determined the incident occurred off-campus, the incident was reported to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office,” the statement said.

Police are now investigating and any arrests or charges would be handled by the sheriff's office and the State Attorney's Office, the spokeswoman said.

An automated call was sent to all parents about the incident.

“As a reminder to students, transmitting illicit photos, video, and/or audio may result in criminal charges and discipline according to the Code of Student Conduct,” the statement said. “If the safety of a student is a concern as a result of any incident, both school police and school officials will work together with the parents and guardians to take appropriate precautionary measures.”
