The Jacksonville Beach planning department confirmed Friday that a conditional use application for the space was approved Monday night. The department said the person speaking on behalf of the application mentioned that the spot would become "Surfer, the Bar."

Freebird Live opened Sept. 8, 1999 with a concert by The Charlie Daniels Band.

"Freebird Live has been a staple in the community for over 16 years and will continue to bring in great shows until further notice," the post said.
