JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Gas prices in Jacksonville are averaging around $4.30 per gallon, prompting many drivers to search for ways to cut costs at the pump.
Kesharia Lucas, a local driver, said she makes a point of seeking out smaller, independent gas stations to avoid higher prices at major branded locations.
“I tend to look for gas prices where a little on the lower side, you know, not the major ones like Shells or, you know, Gates, you know, the small ones like Prime, Pit, or Pit Stop or something like that,” Lucas said.
Independent gas stations often offer lower prices because they purchase fuel on wholesale markets and typically do not carry major licensing or brand fees, according to Science Insights, a science and research publication

For drivers looking to spend less, the GasBuddy app is currently listing three stations with the lowest prices on regular gas in the Jacksonville area.
Amoco, located off U.S. 301 in Baldwin, is reporting regular gas at $3.99 per gallon.
Loves Travel Stop on Duval Road, near Jacksonville International Airport, is listing regular gas at $3.98.
BJ’s Wholesale Club off Max Leggett Parkway, also near the airport, is showing prices at $4.02 per gallon — though shoppers should note a membership is required to fuel up there.
Prices tend to increase closer to downtown Jacksonville and near the beaches.
While apps like GasBuddy can be a reliable resource, not every station reports its prices to the platform. Independent stations that do not submit their rates may not appear in GasBuddy’s listings.
