Brunswick Coach Released From Hospital

Willis To Face Rehabilitation From Bout Of Meningitis

BRUNSWICK, Ga. – A Brunswick High School football coach was released from the hospital last week, three weeks after being diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.

John Willis then began a rehabilitation program to regain his strength.

He has not decided whether he'll return as the Brunswick Pirate's coach again after 22 years at the helm. Willis said that when he's fully recovered, he and his family will decide what the future will hold.

Although this form of meningitis can only be transmitted through close, personal contact, health officials gave antibiotics to his closest family members and a few coworkers as a precaution. They said there was no risk to students.
