JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Brenton Butler (pictured, right), a Jacksonville teen who made international headlines when he was acquitted and later cleared of the murder of a Georgia tourist, was arrested Tuesday.
The Marion County Sheriff's Department confirmed that Butler, 19, was arrested in Indiana on charges of criminal confinement, which is a felony, and simple battery.

The mother of his 17-year-old girlfriend, Dominique, said she sent her daughter to the Indianapolis area to go to school and get away from Butler.
Butler reportedly went there and picked Dominique up at school, in an incident similar to what happened in Jacksonville a year ago. The charges in that case were later dropped.
Butler was 15 years old when he was wrongly accused in the 2000 shooting of Marianne Stephenson near a Ramada Inn in Jacksonville.
During the trial, Brenton's defense claimed that JSO officers, particularly Detective Michael Glover, Sheriff Nat Glover's son, physically forced a murder confession out of him.
Butler spent six months in jail before being acquitted. His family then filed a civil lawsuit against the city and received $775,000.
Butler was the subject of an Oscar-winning documentary and wrote about his experience in "They Said It Was Murder."
Juan Curtis, who was later charged with the murder, received a life sentence.
Butler is being held without bond in Indiana pending his first court appearance Wednesday.
